5th Annual Gingerbread House Competition- Team Registration

Get your friends, family, and co-workers together for a fun gingerbread house-building competition supporting The C.A.R.E Group (Moore Buddies Mentoring & Moore County Literacy Council)!

We will have basic gingerbread house kits for participants to pick up and begin building. There's just one catch...you have to fundraise to get your decorations!

For every $20 you raise, we will add another decorating element to your list! You can only decorate with the items you gain from fundraising!

Team registration begins on October 19th through November 1st. Space is limited to 30 teams this year.

Holiday Food Drive

Help our CARE Group Families who worry about how or what to feed their family over the holidays. A number of our community partners will be collecting nonperishable food items for our families around Moore County. You may also drop items off at our office.
Suggested items include: Canned Fruit & Vegetables (corn, peas, green beans, sweet potato, pumpkin, fruit cocktail), Rice, Instant Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy, Stovetop Stuffing, Biscuit/Cornbread Mix, Turkey/Chicken Stock, Hot Chocolate, Candy Canes.

3rd Annual Blingo Bingo Fundraiser

Break out your Bedazzler and join us for another fun evening of cheesy bling and bingo!
We will be crowning a Queen and King of Bling, giving away prizes from local businesses, enjoying drinks and desserts, striking a pose at the Bling Booth, and having a great time raising money for the C.A.R.E. Group (Moore Buddies Mentoring & Moore County Literacy Council).

Doors will open at 6pm. The first game will begin at 7pm!

Adult Dodgeball Tournament Fundraiser

All of you Average Joes and Purple Cobras come out and join us for a fun day of dodgeball and fundraising for the CARE Group programs! $150 for a team of 6 plus 1 sub. $5 for Fan in the Stands pass. Food trucks, drinks, raffles, and contests! Losers bracket buy-in for those out of the main bracket. Prizes for first place teams in main bracket and losers bracket, best team uniform, and highest fundraising team.

Drop by our Mentoring Open House any time between 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday, January 31st to learn more about our mentoring program. Our Mentoring Coordinators, Cynthia and Katie, will be welcoming you into our mentoring space located at 575 SE Broad Street, Unit 14 in Southern Pines. Trauma is universal. Each and every one of us, experience trauma at some point in our life—some more than others, but we all experience it. For many, trauma has been a significant part of their life. At The CARE Group, understanding trauma and its effect on one's physical, social, emotional, and mental health is key to the ongoing work with our children, adults, and community.

Trainer DeVault Clevenger, MA, LCSW, Senior Director for Clinical and Leadership Development of Pinnacle Family Services/Health Connect America, will cover:

  • Introduce one to the ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) study and the study’s findings

  • Find out what the leading healthcare crisis is

  • Learn about brain science and “flipping your lid”

  • Learn ways to help someone regulate themselves

Initial voting will happen online. The top 3 in each category will be invited to our annual holiday event to be judged live in person! Trophies and prizes included!

Timeline:

November 1st-7th: Register Your Team

November 1st-13th: Start Fundraising for Decorations (every $20 raised gets you another candy!) You will get your own personal team page to fundraise on!

November 17th & 18th: Pick up your gingerbread house kits

November 17th-27th: Start creating your prize winning gingerbread house!

November 29th-December 1st: Online Voting

December Date TBD: Top 3 in each category will be voted on in person at or Christmas Event!

Broken In Book Sale Fundraiser

The CARE Group is hosting our Broken In Book Sale Fundraiser at our Read Moore Center office in Southern Pines on Friday, March 4th from 9am-3pm! You won't CARE if these books are used since they are all real page turners! All proceeds from this sale will go to our vital programs for literacy and mentoring. We have books from all genres and all ages. We need to make room for our growing programs, so you can swing by and grab some of your favorite reads or those on your reading wish list for an amazing deal, all while supporting a great organization!
