$17/hour

Job Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our Intensive Intervention Services Mentoring Program as Paid Mentors. This program is designed to support youth exiting the juvenile justice system and re-entering their communities. Our goal is to prevent reoffending and placement in youth development centers by providing consistent, positive mentorship. Each mentor will work closely with up to two youths, helping them navigate their reentry and reduce the risk of recidivism. Our Paid Mentors create their working schedule weekly depending upon their availability and the youth’s availability, with a minimum of 2 hours a week dedicated to spending with each youth. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one mentoring to up to two youths exiting the juvenile justice system.

  • Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with mentees.

  • Assist mentees in setting and achieving personal, educational, and social goals.

  • Act as a role model and guide positive decision-making.

  • Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.

  • Coordinate with CARE Group staff to monitor progress and address any issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of mentoring activities and progress.

  • Maintain confidentiality of participants.

  • Attend training sessions and regular meetings with program coordinators.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, caseworkers, and Mentor Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth.

  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by youth in the juvenile justice system.

  • Ability to relate to and connect with young people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, averaging 10-12 hours per week.

  • Shared life experience is helpful, but not required.

  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.

  • Must pass a background check.
